Head and Neck Surgery (including cancer)
A/Prof A.Simon Carney undertook a full-year Fellowship in Head & Neck Surgery at The Royal Adelaide Hospital in 1999 before returning to the UK and working as a Consultant in the Head & Neck Unit at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham under Professor Patrick Bradley. On returning to Adelaide, he joined the Head & Neck Team at Flinders Medical Centre and now is the lead clinician of the multi-disciplinary head & neck team, based in the Flinders Cancer Centre.

He has been a Faculty member at four Head & Neck teaching courses and will be running and hosting the 1st Flinders International Course in Advanced Coblation Techniques, towards the end of 2008.
He has worked with two international equipment manufacturers to design specific instruments and probes for use in Head & Neck surgery.
Our philosophy with respect to Head & Neck cancer is that surgery is often not the most suitable form of treatment and that we will give patients all the various treatment options so that they can make an informed choice as to which is the most suitable for them.
